Designing Childrens Playgrounds
Ancient ditch halts play
A local ancient monument did not stop the enjoyment of local children in Rhuddlan even though initial plans for their new play area were put on hold.
The new play area design encroached on the ancient town ditch, a protected ancient monument. But after meeting with CADW, the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment services and Town Councillors, a new design and location was agreed and the new play area was back on.
Work started in June this year and the new play area was opened early July much to the delight of the local children.
Town Clerk Mr Terry Pemberton was especially pleased, as the project seemed to take longer that he first thought due to problems incurred with the original location and subsequent meetings to resolve these problems. Mr Pemberton said, "The finished play area had excellent equipment supplied and fitted. We are very satisfied with the standard of work". A case of where there is a will, there's a way.
